Five Easy Steps to Better Sails…… 17/08/2001 Technical innovation and service – The fabric of our business In the same way that the processor in your PC gives you the power and speed that you require, so to does the sailcloth used in your sails. The choice of cloth is at the heart of performance and strength. Bainbridge International has recently launched a new website, www.sailcloth.com. The site is designed to help boat owners through the complexities of laminates, the choice of wovens and the range of ripstops available to them. It aims to offer yachtsmen an insight into the cloth their sails will be made from and give them valuable knowledge and understanding, which in turn will help them communicate with their Sailmaker. The site offers a simple 5 step process to better sails and answers a number of important questions, including: ‘Why do I need a new sail?’ ‘Which sailcloth to choose?’ and ‘Getting the most from your new sails’. It also offers advice on suitable sail cuts and sail care. In addition to all this Bainbridge have also compiled a world directory of Sailmakers, to make the job of selecting one nearby easier, and a comprehensive Glossary of Sailmakers terms. The site also offers the opportunity to design your own spinnaker in the colors available in the Bainbridge ranges that can then be sent by email to your Sailmaker. You can use the sailcloth weight converter to jump between grams per square metre, Sailmakers ounces and ounces per square yard. As a whole www.sailcloth.com has been designed to help and assist the yachtsman through the purchase and design of a new sail. The sailcloth.com site also links to the Bainbridge International site that offers background information on Bainbridge as a company and gives details of our other areas of expertise. The Bainbridge site can be found at www.bainbridgeint.com - End - |
